LONDON: Worcestershire batsman Vikram Solanki has been called up for England's one-day squad for the fourth international against Sri Lanka at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

A statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board on Tuesday said Solanki had been recruited as cover for Kevin Pietersen and Paul Collingwood, who have injuries to their left knee and left thigh respectively.

With nine months remaining until the World Cup in the West Indies, England have been unable to field their Ashes heroes Michael Vaughan, Andrew Flintoff, Ashley Giles or Simon Jones in the one-dayers because of injuries.

Sri Lanka have an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.
