Pramod Bhagat creates history by becoming the first athlete from India to win gold in Badminton in Paralympics or Olympics.

Indian shuttler Pramod Bhagat helps India win fourth Gold in the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics after he defeated Great Britains Daniel Bethell in the men's singles SL3 final match. This is the first time badminton was introduced in the Paralympics.
The Indian who is a five-time World Championship gold-medallist and one time Asian Games winner had won the first set 21-14. The second saw the Indian shuttler down by eight points but he managed to level the match 15-15 and then went on to win 21-17.

Earlier, Bhagat, he on Saturday entered the final after defeating Daisuke Fujihara of Japan 21-11, 21-16. Bhagat, the world number one, dominated the proceedings and won the match in straight sets to reach the final.
Daisuke had taken a two-point lead but it was for a short period of time as Bhagat came back to seal the first Game 21-11.
In the second Game, Bhagat again dominated the proceedings and took an early lead in the essay.
Bhagat then took a three-point lead as the scores reached 7-4 with the Japanese shuttler giving a tough fight to the Indian athlete. He then completed the win in the second game in just 21 minutes.
He was earlier in the day part of the Mixed Doubles SL3-SU5 event along with 19-year-old Palak Kohli. They, however, lost in the semi-final in straight sets against Indonesia's OR Leani and Susanto Hari.
