Shivendra Singh, who scored the first goal for India in its match against Pakistan in the Hockey World Cup, had promised his mother that he will play an important role in last night's match. "I will not return unless I play an important role in the team's victory," he told his mother Radha Choudhary yesterday.Radha said that her son was learning playing techniques from ace forward Prabhjot Singh. Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced that a sum of Rs1 lakh will be given to each player who scores a goal in the World Cup.
