NEW DELHI: Indian batsman Virender Sehwag’s home in Najafgarh here will be guarded by Delhi Police after Team India’s defeat against minnows Bangladesh in the cricket World Cup angered fans — especially after wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s house in Ranchi was targeted by a mob.

“We have become extra cautious after Dhoni’s residence was attacked in Ranchi by an angry mob Sunday and the personnel posted in police picket near Sehwag’s house were immediately asked to be prepared for any situation,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest Delhi) Ravindra Yadav said on Monday.

“Though there is not much possibility of a mob attack on his house, steps have been taken to avert such a situation,” he added.
