NEW DELHI: Sania Mirza celebrated her return to court with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over local challenger and wild card Ipek Senoglu in the first round of Istanbul Open in Turkey on Tuesday.
 
The Hyderabadi teenager, ranked 38th in the world, will meet Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands in the second round of the Tier III $200,000 event on Wednesday.
  
Earlier in the day, Michaella, sister of former Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek, was leading 6-0, 4-0 when her Russian opponent Irina Kotkina retired with a right elbow inflammation and conceded the match.
