Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has written a letter to Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to send him bank details of all the Indian athletes who were part of the Rio contingent in order to make the promised Rs 1,01,000 payment directly into their accounts.

Khan, who was also goodwill ambassador of the Indian contingent for Rio, tweeted during the course of the Olympic Games only about his intention to reward all the players. His idea to put money directly into athletes' bank accounts will certainly save IOA of the hassles of sending cheques to each one's addresses.

"This will certainly save us from a lot of hassles of sending cheques to right addresses," was how IOA official reacted to Salman's letter.

It must be mentioned here that Salman's appointment as goodwill ambassador before the Games came in for a lot of criticism in the wake of his irresponsible 'rape' comment. The actor was quoted as saying in an interview before his departure for International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) that "when I used to walk out of the ring after the shoot" (of his then upcoming movie 'Sultan' in which he plays the role of a wrestler), "I used to feel like a raped woman. I couldn't walk straight".

In fact, the IOA also threatened to drop him as ambassador if he failed to apologise for his remarks.

Salman's latest movie Sultan has already completed its 50 days of release at the box office and has proved to be a huge success.

However, keeping in mind the kind of profits that his movie has earned so far, to the tune of more than Rs 300 crore, an amount of just over Rs 1 lakh per athlete looks to be a tad small.

Khan has also been named by Forbes' as 14th in the list of highest paid actors in the world with an earning of $28.5 million.
