MOSCOW: Russian Davis Cup skipper Shamil Tarpishchev will recall Marat Safin, currently ranked 64th in the world, into the squad to face Serbia in a first round tie here next month.

"Safin will definitely be in our team," Tarpishchev said on Tuesday.

The 2000 US Open and 2005 Australian Open champion Safin missed last year's final against the United States after a loss of form.

Tarpishchev also included world number four Nikolay Davydenko, Mikhail Youzhny, who is eighth in the ATP rankings and Dmitry Tursunov, who is ranked 34th, in the Russian squad.
