The Australian skipper will no doubt spend a considerable amount of time thinking about what led to his team's World Cup elimination.
While he will have a four-month break from international cricket after the tour to Bangladesh early next month, Australian skipper Ricky Ponting will no doubt spend a considerable amount of time thinking about what led to his team's World Cup elimination.
"It might take me a while to think about my own innings," the 36-year-old said.
He added: "As things turn out, it could be my last World Cup game. If I end up having made a hundred in my last World Cup game then I guess I can be pretty happy at the end of the day. But I've always been one of those guys that's never really reflected on what I've done until a lot later, never really been a stats man - that doesn't worry me."
The Sydney Morning Herald quoted him as saying that he was devastated by the defeat against India in Thursday's quarter-final.
When asked whether he felt like the 'tragic hero' of the quarter-final, he said:. "I honestly don't know how to answer that question," he replied.
"Am I the tragic hero? I don't feel like much of a hero at the moment," he added.
