Spanish football giants Real Madrid are still hopeful about securing the services of Manchester United and Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo, despite their world-record 62 million pound splash on Brazilian star Kaka.

Real president Florentino Perez insists the 75 million pound it could take to capture Ronaldo from Manchester United remains good value for money.

"Without knowing who we can get, there will be a massive effort for the great players of the world, because that is the Real Madrid model. We will lay the foundations to create a magnificent team," The Sun quoted Perez, as saying.
