Rain and rivals fail to stop 'fastest man' Usain Bolt from winning 'magical' gold medal in 100m at World Championships
The Olympic 100 metres and 200 metres champion beat a dash of rain and some world class rivals to win gold on Sunday in the 100 metres event at the World Athletics Championships.
There were two bolts of lightening and some speedy rivals as the 100 metres final was being run at the Moscow stadium on Sunday, but none of them could deny Usain Bolt a gold medal at the event.
The 'world's fastest man' clocked a 9.77 seconds run to the finish line to finish ahead of Justin Gatlin and Nesta Carter in the event.
A packed crowd had to put up their umbrella's as rain started to fall almost as soon as the event commenced. Bolt had a slow start but his long strides propelled him ahead of rivals to yet another gold medal.
In 2011, a false start at the same event in South Korea meant he was disqualified and Yohan Blake won the gold. This year, the 26-year-old Olympic gold medalist made sure he was cool as a cucumber as he started the race. Blake was not in the tournament as he is injured and out for sometime.
As he crossed the finish line ahead of the rest, Bolt celebrated with the Jamaican flag and his trademark bolt action in the midst of the rain as he won another laurel.
