The jump in Sindhu's ranking was largely due to her triumph at the India Open Super Series, where she defeated Spain's Carolina Marin in the final. The 21-year-old, though, failed to sustain her form and got knocked out in the first round of the Malaysia Open on Wednesday.

Former World No.1 Saina Nehwal, who also lost in the first round in Malaysia, dropped one place to be at nine in the latest rankings.
