Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp labelled Saturday's 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur his side's best game of the season but warned that their perfect start did not mean they could expect a trouble-free ride in the Premier League.

"We've won a few games and that's good, very good, but it doesn't change anything," Klopp said as Liverpool stayed at the top of the league after their fifth win from five games.

"This game was really good and I'm happy with my squad but we even had problems with this game so we'll have problems during the season. How we'll deal with that I have no idea. I'm not the type of person who waits for problems but I'm old enough to know they will come. I'm long enough in this business to know that nobody plays a perfect season. Even (Manchester) City last year did not play the perfect season."

Liverpool, enjoying their best start to a season since the 1990-91 campaign, had plenty of chances to make the result more comfortable at Wembley, dominating for long periods of the second half after their goals by Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino.

Erik Lamela's late goal for Spurs ensured a nervy ending but the result never appeared in doubt, much to Klopp's delight.

"For me the performance was better than the result," Klopp said. "You need an outstanding performance to win and that's what the boys delivered today. We could have scored more and we controlled the game.

"It was our best game of the season for sure. It was a very good performance, maybe our best against Tottenham. But only five percent less and we would probably have lost. Tottenham won't be happy but because we were so good it was difficult for them today. We deserved to win."
