Forget defeat, even a first innings lead in a drawn match for the side that is placed fourth from the bottom won't be enough if they are to vie for a place in the knockouts. Mumbai face group leaders Karnataka in the final round at the Wankhede from February 6-9.

The selectors have almost revamped the Mumbai side after Suryakumar Yadav decided to step down from captaincy following an embarrassing innings and 44-run loss to Tamil Nadu last week.

The Mumbai Cricket Association said it was due to team's poor performance that Yadav stepped down.

Their new captain is wicket-keeper-batsman Tare. He has been appointed on the basis of his performances in the last two seasons and not just this season alone. His form has been below ordinary this season with just one half-century in six games. And, his batting will only be burdened by the pressures of captaincy.

Mumbai have made six changes in the squad. Teenaged batsman Sarfaraz Khan and left-arm spinners Iqbal Abdulla and Vishal Dabholkar have been dropped to bring in Harmeet Singh. They also lack in experience too. Barring Wasim Jaffer, there is none with more than five seasons of experience.
