Why are the samples of athletes collected during the Beijing Games being re-tested?
The test for EPO Cera was not there during the Beijing Games. We have it now. That is why we are re-doing the tests.
Are you happy with what you see at the CYG?
Yes, the organizers have done a commendable job. The infrastructure is very good. I hope it is put to good use after the Games also.
What makes good sportspeople?
Hard work is what reaps rich dividends.
What is your take on the academies and clubs established here?
This is a very good and move. It is something that has been very successfully in the former Soviet Union. Even USA has an academy system in place and that has made a difference. I am sure it will work here also.

Your culture, both past and the future is something very interesting. Of course, Mahatma Gandhi was born here. That makes it special and India has a special place in my heart.
What are the chances for India winning the bid to host the 2020 Olympics?
It all depends on how they organise the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. That will play vital role.
What are the chances of Twenty20 cricket featuring in the Olympics?
Twenty20 cricket will not feature in London 2012 or for that matter in 2016. We are adding two more disciplines for the 2016 Games. The new sports that could be added are squash, softball, baseball, karate, rugby and golf. There is no cricket.
