MUMBAI: Taking a swipe at NCP leaders who occupied front seats while relegating the World Cup winning players to the back during the felicitation ceremony on Wednesday at the Wankhede stadium, BJP leader Gopinath Munde said this action was an insult to the players.

"At a time when Mumbaiites had given a rousing welcome to the Twenty20 World Cup winning team, the manner in which these politicians tried to hog the limelight left a bad taste in the people," Munde said.

He said it was unfortunate that barring Mahendra Singh Dhoni who was given the front seat, all the players were relegated to the second and third line by the BCCI.

"These politicians were behaving as if they had won the World Cup and not the Indian team. When the cricket team had won the Cup, such ostentatious display of `political show' was uncalled for," Munde said.
