Former New Zealand pace spearhead Shane Bond has been appointed as the bowling coach of Mumbai Indians for the 2015 Indian Premier League (IPL) which is scheduled to start on April 8.Bond, who played the 2010 IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders, would join fielding coach Jonty Rhodes (South Africa) and batting coach Robin Singh (India) as Ponting's assistants. Earlier, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting was hired as the heading coach of Mumbai Indians.

Bond said that it was his 'privilege' to be associated with the 'most highly regarded franchise' in the IPL, adding that he was 'looking forward' to bring his 'cricketing experience' to work alongside Ricky and the team, Stuff.co.nz reported.

However, Bond will step down as New Zealand bowling coach after the 2015 World Cup.
