Former wicketkeeper MSK Prasad has been elected as the new chairman of selectors at the BCCI's Annual General Meeting. Devang Gandhi, Gagan Khoda, Sarandeep Singh, and Jatin Paranjape are the other four members of the selection committee.

Mannava Sri Kanth Prasad played 6 Test matches, 17 ODIs, 96 First-Class matches for Andhra Pradesh and 88 List A matches. He made his ODI debut against Bangladesh at Mohali in May, 1998.

The 45-year-old Gandhi, who has four Tests and three ODIs to his credit, will be representing the east zone, while Paranjpe will be west zone's representative. Former off-spinner Sarandeep is the selector from north zone, replacing Vikram Rathour.

The 44-year-old Paranjpe, a former left-handed batsman, has only played four ODIs. Sarandeep, on the other hand, has three Tests and five ODIs under his belt, making him compliant with the Lodha committee recommendations.

In overall analysis, the new selection committee has a combined international experience of 13 Tests and 31 ODIs.ODIs.

BCCI had put out stricter criteria when advertised for selectors like the candidate must have represented the Indian team either in a Test match or a One Day International or more than 50 first class matches in India and candidate should not be part of any IPL team/management or part of any other league in the world. 

At the 87th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai, BCCI top brass decided to go against the diktat of Justice RM Lodha panel, which has warned it to stick to just "routine business."

BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke was also elected unopposed at the meeting. Shirke is the supremo of the Maharashtra Cricket Association and known to be close to former BCCI and ICC president Sharad Pawar.
