Moments after the post-match presentation at the MCG, M S Dhoni dropped a bomb-shell and conveyed the message to an Indian team official that he was retiring from test cricket for good.

Dhoni and the Indian team later gathered in the dressing room for a quick chat, and later formed a team huddle.

The skipper later reportedly burst into tears post the team meeting, and quickly made a hushed exit.

Even BCCI secretary, Sanjay Patel was left shocked at Dhoni's immediate decision, with the latter maintaining that he retired for good to concentrate on his ODI and T-20 career.

Despite Patel urging Dhoni to hold back captaincy till the end of the series, the latter held his stance and decided to stick by his abrupt decision. 

Dhoni's manager Arun Pandey too was left in the dark about Dhoni's sudden announcement and informed that even his immediate family members were unaware of his decision.
