LONDON: Amelie Mauresmo was in an unforgiving mood against Serbia's Ana Ivanovic on Monday, beating her 6-3 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals at Wimbledon.

Ivanovic wrecked Mauresmo's hopes of winning her home grand slam last year when she beat her in the French Open third round.

The 18-year-old from Belgrade, who reached the fourth round here for the first time, had won two of their last three meetings but was unable to topple the top seed on Monday.

Mauresmo claimed the first set when Ivanovic slapped a service return wide and, although she was broken when she attempted to serve out for the match at 5-2, she clinched victory on her next attempt with a forehand volley. She will next face 2004 French Open champion Anastasia Myskina.
