After the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) allowed sports complexes and stadiums to reopen, he has now given permission to federations to organise sports events.

He said, "If any sports federation wants to organise a sports event, they can do it in the stadium. But they have to ensure that the Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) are being followed properly. All the conduct has to be carried out with certain discipline: Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju."

The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has also recommended to its athletes to not shake hands and hug other athletes or coaches.

The AFI has also asked them to download the Government of India's AAROYA SETU app for tracking COVID-19 positive cases near them.

As part of the guidelines, the athletes have to also leave their room just five minutes before their scheduled training time and return back immediately.

The AFI has also recommended all athletes to use disposable gloves while they are not allowed to use the sauna and ice-bath facilities.

Athletes are also not allowed to leave the camps and can only be sanctioned by the AFI President/Chairman Planning.
