France forward Kylian Mbappe has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and will miss this week’s Nations League international against Croatia, the French football federation (FFF) said on Monday. "Given that the result of his COVID-19 test carried out by UEFA on Monday morning showed up as positive, he was removed from the rest of the squad after the results came through following training, and then returned to his home later in the evening," the French football body said on its website.

Mbappe, a star of France’s 2018 World Cup victory, scored the winner on Saturday as France beat Sweden 1-0. The 21-year old is also the latest member of the Paris Saint Germain (PSG) team to test positive for COVID-19, with Brazilian international Neymar also reported by French media as having tested positive for the virus.

France play Croatia at Paris’ Stade de France on Tuesday.

PSG Player Test positive

Three Paris St Germain (PSG) players have tested positive for COVID-19, the Ligue 1 club said on Wednesday. Although not confirmed by PSG, the players are Angel Di Maria, Leandro Paredes and Neymar, as reported by L'Equipe.

Neymar, Di Maria and Paredes had extended their holidays in Ibiza, where they are said to have infected with COVID-19 virus. Three Paris Saint-Germain players have confirmed positive Sars CoV2 tests and are subject to the appropriate health protocol," the club said in a statement. “All of the players and coaching staff will continue to undergo tests in the coming days.”

Although the Ligue 1 season has kicked off, PSG have yet to begin their campaign as they have been given a break following their run to last month's Champions League final, where they were beaten 1-0 by Bayern Munich. The Parisian club starts their title defence at Racing Lens on September 10.
