Khelo India: Manavaditya Rathore, Manisha Keer claim Trap gold, Mehuli Ghosh shoots gold in 10m air rifle

Manavaditya Singh Rathore and claimed gold in Trap while Mehuli Ghosh struck gold with the air rifle on Saturday at the Shiv Chhatrapati Stadium Sports Complex in the Khelo India Youth Games.

Manavaditya Singh Rathore of Rajasthan overcame an uncertain start to win the men’s under-21 trap shooting gold medal. Rathore, son of Union Sports Minister and 2004 Olympic Games double trap silver medallist Rajyavardhan Rathore, had missed five of the first 10 targets in the high-pressure final but bounced back by shooting nine of the next 10. He finished with a score of 39 beating Bhowneesh Mendiratta (Haryana) with 34.

Manish Keer of Madhya Pradesh claimed the gold in women’s under-21 trap. Manisha, a World Junior Championship silver medallist trained by Olympian Mansher Singh, ran out a 38-35 winner over Delhi’s Kirti Gupta.

Later in the day, Youth Olympic Games silver medallist Mehuli Ghosh fought off tough competition and overcane fatigue to claim the women’s junior (under-21) 10m air rifle gold in the Khelo India Youth Games on Saturday. 

Ghosh, who has returned from shooting in the Bundesliga Germany only couple of days ago, took a nap in the gallery before the competition and maintained her concentration despite jet lag.

Ghosh was shot scores of 629.4 in the qualification. She followed it up with 252.1 finishing ahead of Elavenil Valarivan of Gujarat who scored 248.8 in the final. 

Heena Jayeshbhai Gohei of Gujarat won the women's youth (under-17) 10m air rifle event while Haryana's Adarsh Singh took the gold in men’s junior (under-21) 25m rapid fire pistol.

Men’s junior (under-21) 25m rapid fire pistol: 1. Adarsh Singh (Haryana) 30; 2. Ayush Sangwan (Haryana) 25; 3. Harshawardhan Mahanand Yadav (Maharashtra) 19.

Women's junior (under-21) 10m air rifle: 1. Mehuli Ghosh (West Bengal) 252.1; 2. Elavenil Valarivan (Gujarat) 248.8; 3. Manini Kaushik (Rajasthan) 227.0.

Women's youth (under-17) 10m air rifle: 1. Heena Jayeshbhai Gohei (Gujarat) 247.5; 2. Jasmeen Kaur (Punjab) 246.3; Yana Rathore (Madhya Pradesh) 224.1.

Men’s under-21 Trap: 1. Manavaditya Singh Rathore (Rajasthan) 39; 2. Bhowneesh Mendiratta (Haryana) 34; 3. Shardul Vihan (Uttar Pradesh) 26.

Women’s under-21 Trap: 1. Manish Keer (Madhya Pradesh) 38; 2. Kirti Gupta (Delhi) 35; 3. Aadya Tripathi (Delhi) 25.
