LONDON: Geraint Jones has vowed to win back his place as England's wicketkeeper before the Ashes series in Australia later in the year.

Jones was part of England's Ashes winning side last year but was roundly criticised for his displays and was eventually dropped for Chris Read earlier this year.

But speaking to the Daily Mail newspaper, the Kent County player said he was determined to reclaim his place.

"Yes, I'm confident I can get my place back, but Ready's the man in possession now," he said.

"My experience of the Ashes last time might tick a box in my favour, but it may come down to who scores most runs in the warm up games.

"I've got to take any opportunity I get. I want to prove to people that I'm the best English wicketkeeper-batsman around. I think I'm capable of doing that now."
