Pune: Jockey Zervan has been suspended for eight meetings for riding an ill-judged race atop Apache on Thursday. The suspension will come into effect from April 27.Zervan failed to do his best astride the favourite Apache, and his losing the grip on the whip raised many an eyebrow. And all hell broke loose after Apache finished second to Jack Frost in the the Sahachari Foundation Cup, the feature event of the day.Apache came from the champion trainer Pesi Shroff's and has a huge following. It was virtually a banker for most of the betting public in the jackpot and super jackpot pools. The stewards immediately ordered an inquiry into the running of the race."He (Zervan) rode an overconfident race, We would say it was an ill-judged race, and we have given him a benefit of doubt," said Vivek Jain, chairman, RWITC."We hope to tighten things and have a fair racing," he added.
