According to a report in Express.co.uk, the 29-year-old is apparently grown tired of constant criticism at the team coached by Zinedine Zidane. The last time Benzema scored a goal was against Napoli during the 1st leg of last 16 in Champions League clash at Bernabeu on February 15.

The Gunners are offering to double his weekly wages from £150,000 to £300,000. If the deal goes through, this would make Benzema the highest-paid player at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been targeting the fellow Frenchman for a number of years. Benzema's arrival at the London club could be funded by Alexis Sanchez's departure as the Madrid star is considered to be latter's ideal replacement.
