While Shane Watson's decision to leave for Australia mid-way from the Indian tour can have many conjectures, the timing is indeed interesting. Guess what's going to start in about 20 days from now? The IPL!

It's no secret that the Australian management was fuming with the idea of its players participating in the million-dollar Indian league from April 3 to May 26. Thus, most of the Australians will be spending their six-week designated rest period slogging it off in India months before the Ashes in England, which begins from July 10.

Can Watson's return be linked to this conundrum? Afterall, he's been a regular since the inception of the IPL, and this “break” would help him come back fresh and fire all-guns blazing come April 3. Something to add to the rumour mills, perhaps!

It would also be worthwhile to remember that Michael Hussey announced his retirement in December last year, much to the surprise of all and sundry. There were speculations that Michael Clarke had some issues with the southpaw too, and that could've been a reason for his premature retirement. Is Watson going the Hussey way?
