Abdulla ended with figures of five for 25 as the home team were skittled out for 201. Mumbai were 74 for two in their second innings to stretch their overall lead to 140 with eight wickets in hand. At stumps, Sahil Kukreja (25) and Suryakumar Yadav (3) were at the crease for the defending champions.

Barring skipper Mithun Manhas (66), none of the Delhi batsmen showed any signs of taking responsibility in a must-win match for their side as they threw away their wickets.

It was Moondeep Mangela who started the Delhi slide dismissing Shikhar Dhawan, who was caught by Rohit Sharma. However Manhas and Mayank Tehlan (29) added 77 runs for the fourth wicket as Delhi reached 150 for three.

But once Manhas was sent back to the pavilion, castled by Aavishkar Salvi, Delhi’s innings crumbled. From 150 for four they lost their next six wickets for 49 runs with five of them picked by tormentor-in-chief Abdulla.

Abdulla got Tehlan caught by Prashant Waghela as others like Rajat Bhatia, Puneet Bisht, Pradeep Sangwan and Sumit Narwal followed suit by playing poor shots.

When Mumbai batted in the second innings, wicketkeeper-batsman Omkar Gurav (30) and Kukreja added 58 runs for the first wicket before Gurav was caught by Bisht off Pradeep Sangwan’s bowling.

Prashant Waghela failed for the second time in this match nicking one to Bisht off Narwal’s bowling.
