India v/s England: Star pacer released from Team India squad, Parthiv Patel set to retain his place
'With the Ranji Trophy going on, it was felt that the squad should not be packed with too many players,' says a BCCI official.
With Wriddhiman Saha and Lokesh Rahul still to recover from injury and Murali Vijay dealing with back spasms, Parthiv Patel will most-likely retain his place in the playing 11 in the fourth Test against England to be played in Mumbai from Thursday.
The Gujarat captain, who scored the match-winning runs in his knock of 67 in the third Test in Mohali, has also managed to gain the confidence of the team management with his impressive glove-work behind the stumps.
Meanwhile, veteran fast-bowler Ishant Sharma has been released from the Test squad. The lanky pacer hasn't featured in the playing 11 thus far owing to the fine form of Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav. Sharma is also slated to tie the knot with basketball player Pratima Singh on December 9, in the middle of the fourth Test.
