The victory did not come easy as the Polish defenders gave a tough time to the Indian forwards. The home team went on an offensive from the word go and Deepika Thakur’s powerful hit got deflected in the fifth minute.

There were a few more misses before Ritu Rani finally broke the impasse in the 14th minute with a fine individual effort. She dribbled past two Polish defenders before netting the goal. India did not look back after that strike and scored two more through Rani Rampal and Poonam Rani after the lemon break.

Coach CR Kumar said that there is still scope for improvement.
