Independent India's first Mr. Universe, Manohar Aich dies at 102
Manohar Aich had won the Mr. Universe title in 1952.
Independent India's first Mr. Universe, Manohar Aich, breathed his last at the age of 102 in Kolkata on Sunday. Aich had won the Mr. Universe title in 1952, in addition to three gold medals in bodybuilding at the Asian Games.
The iconic bodybuilder had also won the World Championship of Spring Pulling by tearing a spring of 275 pounds tension.
He was known as 'Pocket Hercules' for his short stature. He began training in 1942 when he had joined the British Royal Air Force.
