The league has been highly competitive this season with the result of the champion and relegated team only be determined at the end of the final round. Mohun Bagan (38 points) and Bengaluru FC (36) are fighting for the title while Mumbai FC (21), Salgaocar FC (21), Shillong Lajong (20), Sporting Clube de Goa (20) and Dempo (19) are teams that are fighting to avoid relegation.

Sporting Clube de Goa, who struggled in the first leg, won their first match in the 14th round against Salgaocar FC. After that there was no turning back as they collected ten points from their next four matches, until they lost to Mohun Bagan in their last match. A win will see them save relegation. If they lose than they must hope Lajong or Dempo lose their respective matches to survive the drop.
