Hockey India impose player, coach bans

The Disciplinary Committee of Hockey India on Thursday imposed ban of players and coaches for breach of code of conduct and bringing disrepute to the sport. Punjab & Sind bank duo Sarvanjit Singh and Karamjit Singh each received a ban of six months each with effect frin April 1. The pair will be on probation for a year from Oct 1 and any repeat incident of such nature will immediately result in another ban of one year from the date of that incident.

Besides three other players, the entire NC Railways women's team have received a six month ban for walking off the field and not continue the match against Haryana XI during the India Invitation Prize Money Women Tournament held on Feb 28. Their team manager and coach have received bans as well.

The entire list of players have a time period of 30 days to appeal to the Hockey India Athletes Dispute & Grievance Redressal Committee.
