Greenlawns come up with super seven effort

Greenlawns, BP Road, were under pressure to win by at least a margin of three goals against Gopi Birla, Walkeshwar, in order to finish on top of Group Y of the MSSA Boys’ under-16 inter-school tournament, division four, on Wednesday. They went four better in a 7-0 romp in what was their last group match at Azad Maidan on Wednesday.

Greenlawns showed good teamwork in the game, which was highlighted by the fact that six different players got on to the score sheet. Midfielder Rohan Joshi was the only player who hit the back of the net twice.

The 14-year old said, “We got knocked out of last year’s competition at the quarterfinals stage. This year I am hoping we go all the way to the final, so that we can get promoted to the third division. I am in the ninth standard and want to play in a higher division in my last year at school.” Before Greenlawns’ played Gopi Birla, their main rivals in the group, Activity High School, P Road, were three points and two goals ahead them. Their coach Sagar Kapur said they are confident going all the way because they play together as a team.
