An IPL release said on Friday that Gambhir had pleaded guilty to a Level 1 offence which relates to public criticism of a team, a player or an official. “I think Rajasthan was never a threat. Except for Yusuf Pathan, the other guys were pretty ordinary. We thought Yusuf was the only danger-man and didn’t bother too much about anyone else,” the Delhi captain had said. Gambhir was reported by IPL chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi.

Gambhir’s comments attracted sharp reaction from Royals co-owner Shilpa Shetty. “I heard Gambhir called Rajasthan Royals an ordinary team! We are a team with extraordinary talent, 2008 IPL champions not so ordinary after all,” she said on Twitter.
