BHUBANESWAR: Former international badminton star Sanat Mishra passed away following a freak accident here on Saturday.

 

Mishra, 44, had a fall in his bathroom at his BJB Nagar residence suffering injuries. He was rushed to the Capital hospital in the city, where he was pronounced dead.

 

A doubles exponent who partnered Leroy d'sa, Mishra's sporting career spanned 18 years after he burst upon the scene in 1974 as a junior.

 

He is survived by his wife and a daughter.

 

Mishra was employed in the Railways and posted at Cuttack. He had been staying here for the last few years.
