Former Delhi footballer and administrator Syed Nasir Ali passed away early on Sunday morning following a cardiac arrest.

He was 60 and is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.

Nasir breathed his last around 1000 hrs at Lok Nayak Jayprakash Narayan hospital near his home at Daryaganj.

Delhi Soccer Association president Subhash Chopra has condoled the demise of Nasir Ali.

"On behalf of DSA, I offer my heartfelt condolences to the family of Syed Nasir Ali on his demise. He was a very able administrator and played in various championships. His services for promotion of football in Delhi will be missed for a long time," Chopra said.

AIFF acting president Praful Patel and general secretary Alberto Colaco also condoled Nasir Ali's death and called it "a huge loss to Delhi and Indian football".

Nasir Ali had a life long association with Mughals Club and played for City FC and Mughals in Delhi League and other top national club tournaments.

He was Delhi Soccer Association secretary from 1993-2002 and member of AIFF Executive Committee from 2004-08. He also served as a manager of Indian team on various tours.

He was a member of the I-League Committee which recently decided the shifting of matches from Mumbai to Delhi and Gurgaon.
