FIFA Scandal: David Beckham urges to bring changes in FIFA

Former England captain David Beckham has joined the list of people disappointed with the ongoing scandal in world football's governing body, saying that the time has come for FIFA to change.

His comments came after Sepp Blatter has announced that he would step down as the organisation's president.

Beckham said he hoped that at least now they were moving in the right direction, adding that some of the things that have happened were despicable, unacceptable and awful for the game everyone loves so much, the BBC reported.

Resigning from the post, Blatter would end his 17-year reign after FIFA got engulfed in two significant corruption probes.

American investigators arrested seven FIFA officials on charges of charges of racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering.

Beckham said that football was not owned by a few individuals at the top, it belongs to the millions of people around the world who love this sport.

He added changes in FIFA should be welcomed by all as and when they take place.
