One of the best goal-keepers of the world, Manuel Neuer produced a flurry of saves to deny the fast counter attacking Ukrainians but in the 36th minute he was found wanting but defender Jerome Boateng came to his rescue.

Andriy Yarmolenko found Yevhen Konoplyanka at the back post and Neuer came off his line only to see Konoplyanka strike the ball past him. The ball was going wide, but it hit Boateng and went towards goal. However, the Bayern Munich star managed to get back and hook it clear off the line.
