Manchester United football team manager Louis van Gaal has backed the club to come second or third in the Premier League this season. The veteran Dutchman shrugged off fierce flak from United legend Paul Scholes and his stellar compatriot Wim Van Hanegem to claim that United can finish second in the Premier League table and that he would remain manager even in the disaster scenario of another season outside the top four.Mathematically, it's perfectly feasible for United to finish second and with one of the most experienced managers in world football, it just might be possible, The Daily Express reported. But the alternative scenario of ending outside the Champions League places for a second successive campaign is also just as possible as United face a daunting schedule of matches starting against rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. Then United would face Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea as well as Aston Villa in the following four games.Van Gaal said that the coming matches are very decisive, adding that they were so close to a lot of clubs and they can be second or third this season. He insisted that they have to wait for a big victory, adding that then, maybe, they would have more spirit and also more confidence to win their games.Van Gaal also believes that he has strong backing from United's owners, the Glazer family. He said that when he feels that the chemistry between the players and the manager is not right, then he goes, but added that when he sees the chemistry there between him and his players then he doesn't have any doubts.Van Gaal said that because of his conversation with the Glazers he is there and can complete his three years, adding that he believes that they are pleased with his way of managing the club.
