DOA president Kuldeep Vats presented Batra with a momento and a shawl for becoming the first non-European and first Asian chief of FIH.

Asian Athletics Association (AAA) vice president Lalit Bhanot and India Olympic Association (IOA) secretary general Rajeev Mehta also felicitated Batra.

Accepting the felicitation Batra said he hopes that Indian men's hockey team will finish at the podium in 2018 World Cup and 2020 Olympics.

Former Hockey India chief, Batra was elected as the new FIH president in a secret ballot at the FIH Congress in Dubai in November last year.

Batra, thus, became the 12th president of the FIH and the first Indian to take the top job of the sport.
