David Beckham’s message to inspire Andy Murray in Jo-Wilfried Tsonga clash

British tennis ace Andy Murray hopes to storm into the Wimbledon semi-finals on Wednesday inspired by a text message from England football legend David Beckham.

Murray has said that Beckham wished him luck for his Centre Court clash with French World No.10 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

The Scotsman, who made the semi-finals last year, admitted that Beckham’s message would give him a great boost.

“Thanks for all the good luck and well done messages. Always nice to get one from David Beckham, but trying to read them all,” The Sun quoted Murray, as having written on his Twitter page. 

Meanwhile, a source close to Murray said: “David’s always been very supportive of Andy, watching his games whenever he can. They’ve met several times and keep in contact. Andy was delighted to hear from him.”

The 23-year-old had earlier said that he has been playing ‘perfect’ tennis in the tournament.

“Maybe it’s Wimbledon that has brought the best out in me. I needed something really to focus on - and winning this tournament was my goal,” Murray said.

“I know it’s going to be very difficult, so I’ve had to focus a little more because of that. This has been the perfect start. No nervy moments,” he added.

Murray is yet to lose a set in the tournament, and has dropped his serve just once.
