Former England footballer David Beckham was on Thursday disqualified from driving for six months for using his phone while behind the wheel.

The footballer who arrived at Bromley Magistrates Court wearing a dark grey suit was given six points on his licence during a brief hearing.

The 44-year-old admitted the offence after being spotted by a member of the public as he drove his Bentley in London in November.

Two months before the footballer was reported for the offence, Beckham was criticised for avoiding prosecution on a speeding charge because of a technicality.

Beckham accepted he drove a loaned Bentley at 59mph in a 40mph zone in west London in January last year.
