Dada’s 'reality’ check

Cricketer Sourav Ganguly is now ready to step into reality shows, which he admits he was averse to earlier, and not even a blank cheque (reportedly from the producers of Bigg Boss) could get him to entertain the thought.

But after a successful stint on Bengali channels, the former Indian cricket captain says that he is actively considering a few reality show offers, but on a condition.

“I still have a few reservations and don’t think would take part in it as a participant,” explains Sourav.

Not many know of his tryst with regional television.

“I experimented as a quiz master on a regional TV channel, and was encouraged with the reception it got. I am also thankful to Shah Rukh (Khan) because he decided to come on my show. It was really a great run,” says Sourav, whose show Dadagiri has got a record TRP ratings.

Sourav’s second season of the show had over 25,000 people coming for auditions from 19 districts of West Bengal, including the remotest villages.

“I never had a script while I was doing the show. It was done in Bengali, but everything was done on the spot. I loved to improvise and get the reactions from my participants. I am confident and easy in front of the cameras now,” he adds.

Sourav admits that he was in talks with a television channel for a national level quiz reality show.

“I was talking to Zee for sometime, but we couldn’t come to a conclusion at that time. I think that I am now confident of getting into it, so all offers are welcome now,” says Sourav, who once used to shy away from television cameras.

Dada doesn’t rule out being a judge on reality shows too.

“Judging a show is okay with me, but participating is a bit too much. I love the way they are judging the dance reality shows these days, and the way they have designed them. Everyone around me finds them appealing,” adds Sourav.

Now that he has proved himself as a television show host, Sourav’s favourite is none other than Amitabh Bachchan.

“He’s by far the best host we have seen. It’s good to watch him on screen. He’s an inspiration,” Sourav signs off.
