Could Jasper Cillessen or Andre Onana replace David de Gea at Manchester United?

There are said to be massive changes during the summer transfer window at Old Trafford. With rumors of Paul Pogba moving to Real Madrid continue to persist, David de Gea's time in Manchester could also be coming to an end.

Manchester United have submitted a bid to sign Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana, according to reports. They are reportedly even closing in on Barcelona stopper Jasper Cillessen as a leading candidate to replace de Gea should he depart the club. 

De Gea was voted as the Premier League's best goalkeeper in five of the past seven seasons and was voted United's player of the year for four straight seasons between 2014 and 2018.

The Red Devils gave De Gea the option to extend his contract until 2020 but there is no sign of an agreement. If he does not sign on the dotted line soon, United will have to consider selling him or risk losing the player for nothing next season.

According to the Daily Record, United have submitted a bid for Onana but Ajax, who value the Cameroon international at €40 million (£35m), have rejected the offer.

United are also unwilling to meet Ajax’s asking price for Onana and are considering Barca stopper Cillessen. 

The 30-year-old Dutchman has been at Barca since 2016, acting as backup to Marc-André ter Stegen. He is now on the hunt for his first-team football and could leave the Camp Nou during the upcoming transfer window.

Barcelona are said to be seeking a €25million fee for the player, who earned 48 caps for the Dutch national team.
