Champions Trophy to cost Rajasthan Cricket Association Rs2 crore

The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) will have to pay a whopping sum of over Rs2 crore to the sports department, Sports Council and police department if it wants to conduct Champions League matches at Sawai Man Singh Stadium.
The Champions League will start from September 21. Seven matches of this tournament will be played in the city.

A match between India and Australia will also be held at SMS Stadium. Earlier this year, the RCA and sports department had signed an MoU. The MoU stated that both the parties would mutually decide the match fee for the games to be held at SMS Stadium. The department has demanded Rs70 lakh from the RCA under the MoU.

The RCA will pay Rs10 lakh per match for the Champions League matches.
However, it will pay Rs25 lakh for the India-Australia match. According to the MoU, the RCA has north, south and east blocks at the stadium.

The RCA has asked for the west block from the Sports Council but the council has demanded that the RCA should deposit Rs61 lakh for this block.

Meanwhile, the ground floor of the west block will be under the RCA’s control for 35 days. The RCA will have to pay Rs50,000 per day for the ground floor.

It will also have to pay over Rs20 lakh as ‘caution money’.

Interestingly, the police department has demanded Rs11 lakh per match from the RCA for its services during the Champions League.

But the RCA has not received a formal letter for the same. The department officials have informally told the RCA about it.
