On Sunday, England will get a chance to add another trophy to their 2009 T20 cup as they take on India in the Champions Trophy final on home ground.
For 38 years the country where cricket was born has never been able to capture any one-day title and at Edgbaston a chance to defeat ODI World Cup holders India and win the Champions Trophy is something Alastair Cook and his team are hoping for.
In 16 attempts that goes back to the first World Cup held in 1975 England has always fallen short. India has won two World Cups and has been unbeaten so far in this tournament, a great sign for fans who felt cheated after the Indian Premier League or IPL fiasco.
England have always finished second best in their attempts to lift the World Cup and the Champions Trophy over the past two decades. India will be completing 30 years in a few days time since Kapil Dev and his team first won the 50-overs World Cup in 1983. India has the upper hand over England having never lost to them at the Champions Trophy.
With backing from the home crowd, one of the best English teams ever will be looking to turn the tables on the No1 ODI team India on Sunday. The pace-attack of Stuart Broad, James Anderson and Tim Bresan will look to counter the batting prowess of Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.
India's bowling too has picked up with Ishant Sharma rising to the occasion backed by Ravichandra Ashwin and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja who is one of the top bowlers in the tournament, it will be a tough challenge for Cook, Jonathan Trott, Ian Bell and Eoin Morgan.
Indian and English fans will surely throng the stands to cheer their favourite team on. But the match may also see the rain looking to have a say as there is a chance of rain.
Both teams will be raring to go as history will surely be made at the Edgbaston with Dhoni's men seeking to prove they are truly the 50-over World Champions and England looking for a maiden ODI silverware.
