After an action-packed round-of-16, eight top clubs have now sealed their quarter-final berth. The coveted European competition draw will take place on Friday (15 March) in Nyon.

The round of 16 did come with this share of surprises. The big one being, defending champions Real Madrid being eliminated by the Dutch side AFC Ajax.

England’s Manchester United scripted an outstanding comeback after a two-goal deficit from the first leg thereby eliminating PSG while their derby rivals Manchester City ran a rout against their opponents Schalke by 10-2 on aggregate.

Lionel Messi helped Barcelona cruised past Lyon comfortably, while Liverpool eliminated Bayern Munich after a 3-1 away win in the second leg. Cristiano Ronaldo’s hattrick helped carry Juventus past Atletico Madrid in the second leg. As for the other teams, to qualify were, FC Porto and Tottenham Hotspurs.
