The Reds player admits his team’s missed chance

LIVERPOOL: Jamie Carragher admitted Liverpool had blown a great chance to end Arsenal’s unbeaten start to the season after the biggest match of the season so far ended in a 1-1 draw at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool were on track for victory after Steven Gerrard fired them into a seventh-minute lead but Arsenal’s pressure paid off when Cesc Fabgregas equalised with 10 minutes left.

“It was a great game, I’m just disappointed not to get a goal at the end,” Carragher said after picking up the man-of-the-match award.

“Both teams were going for it and Arsenal play great football, but I’m gutted we couldn’t hold on. We are Liverpool and we should be expected to beat Arsenal at home.”

Carragher believed the loss of Fernando Torres at half-time through injury had hit Liverpool’s chances of killing off the contest with a second goal.
