Days after the Kolkata Mayor’s niece Debapriya Chatterjee got herself in trouble for jumping a traffic signal and hitting a pedestrian, BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya’s grandson Aditya Dalmiya made headlines on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a traffic sergeant.
On Thursday, Aditya was produced before the juvenile justice board and was allowed to go home. On the other hand, the vehicles driver was found guilty by the court and has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody till June 17.
"Aditya was allowed to leave by the juvenile justice board. Now, they will carry out an enquiry to find whether he was guilty or not," said Santosh Pandey, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Suburban Division)
The car, in which Aditya was travelling, was parked at a non-parking area in Jadavpur and as soon as the traffic sergeant approached the parked vehicle, they took a U-turn and tried to flee. When the sergeant chased and confronted them, Aditya got down from the car and dropped Jagmohan Dalmiya’s name.
Immediately, the sergeant on duty, called upon the officials of the East Jadavpur Traffic Guard and several officers rushed to the spot. On seeing more and more traffic officials approaching, Aditya allegedly attached the sergeant.
Later, the police detained Aditya for stopping the sergeant from discharging his duties and attacking him. The police booked him under charges of misconduct and on the other hand, Aditya filed a counter complaint against the cops.
