CHENNAI: Former Indian skipper Krish Srikkanth on Friday said batsmen held the key to Team India's success in the ensuing Test series in England.

In a chat on the sidelines of a Mobile Store launch function in the city, he said the conditions there would benefit the bowlers well.

''Even in South Africa, we had a good chance of winning the test  series, but the batsmen let us down. The bowlers did a very good job  in South Africa. Given the conditions in England, which will suit the swing bowlers, our bowlers will definitely bowl well. It's for the batsmen to ensure that there are enough runs on the board for the bowlers to exploit the conditions,'' he added.

To a question on whether India needed a foreign coach, Srikkanth, a strong votary of Indian coaches, said, 'We have good coaches in India''.

But he still preferred the concept of Cricket Manager, who should have knowledge of cricket and be a good tactician and motivator.
